Welcome Briefing

  1. General ethos is relaxed. Enjoy the sights.
  2. YOUR responsibility to have bags labelled. Including ‘day bag’ and please have our numbers on phone
  3. Have you completed the ICE form? Any medical conditions / allergies noted?
  4. Have you stored leaders numbers on your phone?
  5. Covid - we all know what to do. Rem some more nervous than others so be respectful
  6. Riding
    1. as you wish and with whoever you wish
    2. No-one has prioirity on road but be sensitive to cars. Best to avoid waving cars past
  7. Cluster App
  8. WhatsApp group - daily summary will be published each morning noting coffee, lunch, hotel and weather
  9. Evening meals will be advised at briefing each morning 
  10. Lunch is included and will be advised each morning
  11. Support team will move ahead and be at lunch location prep lunch in time for first rider arriving. Will wait until all riders through
  12. Bags will be in reception when you arrive
  13. Where practical, the support vehicle will ‘leap frog’ the riders. If we pass don’t wave unless you want us to stop. We will be looking in our mirror and a clear ‘hand on the head’ signal will be seen and we will stop at next safe area
  14. We will carry snacks, fruit, water, cordial, 
  15. If you flag us down you have the option of travelling in the Support vehicle if you are cold or tired, etc. Bike will go in van
  16. Call 999 immediately for any emergency that requires medical attention and then call your Tour Leader

Sat - Arrival Day

  • 8:30 am pickup at Premier Inn, Titanic Quarter, Belfast
  • 11:30 am pickup at Dublin Airport - Terminal 1 Arrivals Meeting Point
  • 12:15 pm Depart airport
  • Stop at Mayfield Services Junction 14 for lunch - 45 mins max
  • Arrive Cork International Hotel 3:30 pm approx
  • All bikes out of vans and into prep room 
  • 5 pm briefing / jerseys (£35 pr €40) / Wahoos / rental bikes
  • No meal booked in hotel just help themselves

General Notes / Reminders

  1. Each day at lunch time, call next day's lunch stop and hotel to confirm everything
  2. Luggage van's priority is to get to coffee stop before first cyclists arrive and ensure all cyclists in and have had access to day bag before departing to lunch stop
  3. Support Van's priority is  to get to lunch stop 30 mins before first cyclist arrives in order to park up and check in, etc.
  4. Luggage van will stop for a short while at lunch to provide day bag access before heading for hotel 30 mins before first cyclist arrives. This allows time to off load bags into reception
  5. Each night post a WhatsApp message with details of next day (coffee, lunch, hotel, distance and climbing etc.). Weather can wait until morning brief  

Sunday - Day 1 Cycle

  • Mizen to Killarney
  • Leaders up at 6:30 am to pack bikes in vans
  • Breakfast at 7 am
  • Coach at 7:45 am
  • Vans leave before coach if possible. One van leaves early to purchase food if picnic lunch
  • Aim to leave Mizen Head 11 am at latest
  • Split snacks, tools, bike ties (bungies, etc) between two vans
  • REMEMBER to buy ferry tickets for tomorrow online and get them printed and cut up and given out to cyclists tomorrow - https://www.shannonferries.com/buy-online-tickets

Daily Schedule Thereafter

  • 7:15 am Meet in hotel lobby for briefing (cycle gear, no cleats)
  • 7:30 am Breakfast
  • 8:15 am Check out and bags to van THEN collect / prep bike
  • 8:45 am Depart for the day’s cycle

Departure Day

  • Cyclists regroup at Malin village and then depart for Malin Head (14km)
  • Aim to be at Malin Head 12 to 12:30 pm. Half an hour then on to Seaview Tavern
    • Unload luggage from van (will need stored indoors if wet and then loaded on coach when it arrives) 
    • Load bikes remembering that Maldron ones come off first
  • Seaview Tavern lunch and medals / thank you speech 2pm
  • Coach arrives 3:30pm
  • Maldron hotel, International Airport 6 to 6:30pm
  • Premier Inn, Titanic Qtr 7 to 7:30pm

Daily Morning Briefing 7:15am

  • Hold up printed route profile
  • From / to and arrival hotel
  • Distance and climbing
  • Coffee and lunch stop arrangement
  • Meal arrangements for evening eg time and format (group meal or a la carte etc)
  • Any safety issues specific to the day
  • Weather
